With the Telangana agitation started again by Telagana Rastra Samithi leader K Chandrasekhar Rao and then taken up the Osmania University Students.
Central Government decided to form a Committee which will look into the Telangana state formation issue under the supervision of Justice BN Sri Krishna.
Let get into more information of Sri Krishna Committee:
This committee was formed in March 2010, a five member committee was constituted in March 2010, called the 'Justice Sri Krishna Committee' to draft a report for the separate statehood of Telangana with the following members:
· Justice Srikrishna - Bellur Narayanaswamy Srikrishna, is a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India. He is well known for his "Srikrishna Commission" which investigated causes of the 1992-93 Bombay Riots.
· Vinod Duggal - IAS, former Union Home Secretary Ravindar Kaur - professor, IIT Delhi
· Abusaleh Sharif - Senior Research Fellow at the New Delhi Office of International Food Policy Research Institute
· Ranbir Singh - Vice-Chancellor, National Law University
After the complete study of the Telangana, Rayalseema and Andhra region, the committee submitted their report to the Indian Union Home Ministry on December 30, 2010. The report was officially signed by the committee members at 11:30 am on December 30.
After going through the complete report, Home minister P Chidambaram has called up for an all party meeting in New Delhi on January 6, 2011 to discuss on teh issue. TRS, BJP and TDP have decided not to attend the meeting.
There were 6 recommendations made by Sri Krishna Committee:
· To keep the state united; Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister from the two regions
· To divided the state into Seemandhra and Telangana states, as it was before 1956 and make Hyderabad as a Union Territory.
· To combine Rayalaseema and Telangana regions as RayalaTelangana state and a separate Seemandhra state. Hyderabad to remain with RayalaTelangana.
· To divided the state into Seemandhra and Telangana states with enlarged Hyderabad comprising of Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Nalgonda and Mahaboobnagar districts as a Union Territory.
· Two states Seemandhra and Telangana states, with Hyderabad as capital of Telangana. Seemandhra to have a separate capital.
· A United Andhra with constitution of Telangana Regional Council to look into Socio-Economic and Political development.
The report comprised of many studies within the AP state which include:
· History and Development in the respective region.
· Educational and Industrial Development.
· Basic Necessities (Water, Power, Irrigation, Agriculture, health) in the region.
· Law and Order in the region.
· Employment issues
· Literacy and poverty issue.
· How move forward with the development in the respective region.
